Every Kit is Unique!

When most people think about fossils, their minds immediately go to dinosaurs and large sized bones.  Here at Mini Fossils, our goal is to show you a few of the many smaller fossils that are not often thought of to be fossils at all.  We want you to take a look at these and let your mind wander back to the time when these creatures lived and flourished on the planet.  

There were many changes during the span of earth’s history.  Several times over millions of years, parts of the North American Continent were covered by shallow inland seas which existed and receded. For a period of about 157 million to 168 million years, the western part of the North American continent, as it existed at that time, was covered by an inland sea called the Sundance Seaway.  The conditions at this time were perfect for the thriving animals that lived in this shallow sea.

As you can see from the above photos, we want to share with you a few of these animals’ fossilized remains.  As you sift through the material to find the treasures that await you, let your mind wander back to that period of time.  Allow your imagination to see what the world may have looked like.  If you concentrate very closely, you can see these tiny creatures floating in the shallow sea, doing what they did to thrive and survive!
